Prof. Joanne Yip, from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), recently gave a talk to faculty members of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). During her visit, she introduced them to programmes offered by School of Fashion and Textiles, PolyU, as well as the school’s research cluster “Medical Textiles and Functional Clothing”. Along with the presentation, Prof. Yip also visited UTS’s design studio, garment workshop, sewing lab, knitting lab and printing lab. Many important figures were present for the meeting including the Prof. Kate Sweetapple (Head of School of Design), Dr. Toby Slade (Associate Head of School of Design), Prof. Anna Cristina Pertierra (Associate Dean – Research of Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building), and Mr. Roderick Walden (Program Director of Product Design). Through this visit Prof. Yip hopes to encourage collaborations between PolyU and UTS in order to expand knowledge in medical textiles and functional clothing.
