While the effectiveness of non-rigid braces remains controversial, in fact, some have applied proven corrective mechanisms and provided good spinal corrective results which mean that they might be a feasible treatment for scoliosis as long as their shortcomings are addressed, such as discomfort. To this end, this study designs a semi-rigid brace(anisotropic textile brace) modified from a previous brace design. The newly designed brace is developed for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and provides a good bracing effect and wear experience. A preliminary wear trial is conducted after fabricating the brace. The obtained results show that the performance of the brace in correcting spinal curvature is comparable to that of the original brace but provides an even more superior bracing experience.
